We are looking for a Director of Marketing to lead our marketing team in our headquarters in Frederick, MD. You will collaboratively set strategy and manage marketing efforts across multiple employees and vendors to effectively execute on that strategy. The position will report to HighGear’s CEO. It will be accountable for growing revenues through high-quality lead generation, lead nurturing, and sales enablement. Results will be measured primarily by the number of net new clients acquired through marketing-led efforts, and the related customer acquisition costs.

Activities/Deliverables

  • Determine the most effective ways to generate more and higher-quality leads, and make them happen
  • Introduce our audience to HighGear and our market-leading thinking through social media and other platforms
  • Continuously improve HighGear’s positioning, messaging, and branding
  • Operate a steady testbed of many lead generation strategies and aggressively develop the ones that succeed
  • Consistently measure and report key marketing metrics and ensure that we achieve KPI objectives
  • Carefully manage marketing efforts and budgets to control costs and maximize return on investment
  • Manage internal marketing staff and vendors to ensure tasks are completed correctly and on time
  • Lead our marketing team to write and optimize content to educate and evangelize prospects, and facilitate SEO
  • Lead our marketing team to create and refine sales enablement materials
  • Travel to events and trade shows as needed
  • Help lead annual customer conference

Essential Qualities

  • Sets and achieves deadlines, ensure tasks are done correctly and on time, both for work managed directly and delivered through others
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to understand priorities, clarify and communicate as needed, and ensure top priorities get done even if lower priorities have to slip
  • Fast learner, not afraid of getting under the hood with sophisticated technology
  • Proven experience translating marketing budget into measurable and reported sales growth
  • Must be willing to work in the Frederick office full time
  • Must be a US citizen or permanent resident
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug test

Experience

  • 7+ years of professional marketing experience
  • 3+ years marketing an enterprise B2B SaaS offering
  • Nice to have: Experience in outbound email marketing, SEO, PPC, and/or syndication
  • Nice to have: Excited by the challenges and opportunities of working for a startup
  • Marketing degree preferred but not required, relevant college or work experience will be considered

About Josh Yeager, COO

As HighGear’s COO, Josh is responsible for managing the Product Development, Professional Services, and Customer Support teams. His eye for detail and quality are what drive the company forward in its pursuit of excellence.
He’s been at HighGear since the very beginning, helping to build it from the ground up as its co-founder. First, he was responsible for leading product design, but as the company and his experience grew, he took on more management responsibilities, eventually becoming HighGear’s Chief Operating Officer.
He’s a graduate of the University of Maryland. Prior to HighGear, Josh worked on veterinary pharmaceutical reference software and custom business applications.
He’s married to his beautiful wife, Tara, with whom he has four children. In his free time, Josh loves nothing more than enjoying a good book.
