Position: Digital Marketing Intern
Location: Frederick, MD
The Role:
HighGear is adding a Digital Marketing Intern to our Marketing team to bring extra energy and hands-on support across digital advertising, email marketing, marketing automation, content, and website work. This role will give a motivated student or early-career marketer real exposure to how a focused B2B marketing team plans, executes, measures, and improves campaigns.
You will work closely with our Marketing Manager and the broader marketing team, helping keep day-to-day campaigns organized, accurate, and running smoothly. Reporting directly to the Marketing Manager, you’ll get the chance to see (and contribute to) multiple sides of marketing that are often split across separate teams at larger companies.

What You’ll Do
Digital Advertising & Campaign Support
- Assist with execution and day-to-day management of paid digital marketing campaigns.
- Help monitor campaign performance, budgets, leads, and other key metrics.
- Support campaign setup, testing, quality assurance, and ongoing optimization.
- Compile campaign performance data and help prepare recurring reports.
- Research audiences, keywords, competitors, and campaign opportunities.
Email Marketing & Marketing Automation
- Assist with building, scheduling, testing, and sending marketing emails.
- Help create and maintain email lists, audience segments, and campaign workflows.
- Perform quality assurance checks on emails, links, formatting, and personalization.
- Support lead nurturing and other automated marketing campaigns, and monitor performance.
Website & Creative Support
- Make basic website content updates; format and publish landing pages and blog posts.
- Resize, format, or prepare images and marketing assets.
- Perform website quality assurance, flagging broken links or outdated content.
General Marketing Support

- Assist with content publishing, campaign coordination, and other marketing projects.
- Conduct market, competitor, customer, and industry research.
- Collaborate with team members on product launches, campaigns, and events.
What Success Looks Like (First 3 Months)
- Confidently execute recurring digital advertising and email campaign tasks with minimal oversight.
- Independently compile and deliver accurate campaign performance reports on a regular cadence.
- Complete at least one website or content project (e.g., landing page, blog post) from start to finish.
- Build working familiarity with our core marketing tools (advertising platforms, email/automation platform, analytics).
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in marketing, communications, business, advertising, digital media, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and comfort working with data.
- Organized and able to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
- Curious, proactive, and eager to learn new marketing tools and techniques; comfortable asking questions and taking feedback.
- Interest in digital marketing, particularly paid advertising, email marketing, marketing automation, or web marketing.
Preferred
- Exposure to Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, LinkedIn Ads, or other digital advertising platforms.
- Familiarity with email marketing or marketing automation platforms, and/or Google Analytics or reporting tools.
- Experience with WordPress or another CMS, Canva/Adobe Creative Cloud/Figma, or basic HTML/CSS.
- Interest or coursework in SEO, content marketing, or B2B/technology marketing.
Location: Frederick, MD in person | Schedule: 15-20 hours per week, flexible | Internship Period: Through Spring of 2027 | Compensation: $15+ per hour
