HighGear 8.7 presents a considerable leap forward for end users, administrators, and integration developers, rolling up all the features previously shipped in the SaaS-only 8.6.1 and 8.6.2 releases, as well as including even more new capabilities. All these, including the significantly improved management of security administration in 8.6.1 and the powerful dynamic form capabilities of 8.6.2, are now available for self-hosted customers.

Key new features include the Download All functionality which makes working with large sets of files much easier. Also, it is now possible to manage field and status permissions directly from permission groups. And HighGear 8.7 introduces the new Workflow Subscription Nodes feature, enabling the buildout of more powerful and flexible integrations with external applications.

New Features in 8.7

Download All Files
A new menu allows users to quickly download everything from an Attached Files field as a single compressed ZIP file. In addition, users can now download all attached files for all fields within a task, contact, or appointment. This offers significant convenience and time savings.

Field and Status Permission Management from the Account Settings Page
In HighGear 8.7 administrators can now view and edit field and status permissions directly from the Account Settings page for permission groups. This enhancement makes it much easier to get a list of the fields and statuses that a permission group grants and to make changes more convenient when necessary.

Workflow Subscription Nodes
Once configured by a workflow administrator, an authorized account can now subscribe to a Workflow Web Request node through the HighGear REST API. Messages will be sent to subscribed applications whenever a task or project visits a Web Request node. Administrators can easily control which integration accounts can subscribe to each node and can view and manage active subscriptions directly from the workflow designer.

Rollup Features from 8.6.1 and 8.6.2

Dynamic Field Visibility
Dynamic field visibility in task forms enables administrators to configure forms to dynamically show and hide fields based on the values selected in other fields as the user fills out the form. In addition, required fields are only enforced on visible fields enabling administrators to require additional input based on the options a user chooses. With this capability, administrators can set up simpler forms for end-users that clarify which fields are relevant in different situations.

Security Administrators
The Security Administrators feature enable organizations to choose which HighGear users can grant or deny administrative-level action permissions within HighGear.

Easier Identification of Administrators
Users or permission groups with administrative-level action permissions, and security administrators are easier to spot on contact lists or contact panes with new badges that identify their advanced permissions. The Administrator Access Report also lists all administrator users and permission groups in the system. This new report makes it easy to drill in to see what administrator-level permissions have been granted.

REST API: Advanced Search
The REST API now supports the ability to build advanced search criteria with Boolean logic when searching for tasks and contacts. The results of the search can be configured to return just the fields needed.

Workflow Designer: Select Entire Section
The workflow designer now includes a handy new action in the right-click menu for section nodes that selects all the nodes in that section. This enhancement makes it easier to copy or rearrange large portions of a workflow.

Process Items Area: Improved Search Behavior
The object search box, available on the process overview, workflow, and form designer pages, has been enhanced to make it easier to find forms, workflows, fields, and statuses. A search now highlights search terms within the results and will also include partial matches rather than only including items that match the search term exactly.

“Where Used” Improvement
The “Where Used” dialog for forms fields and statuses now includes links to forms that use them making it easy to see exactly how they are used in forms.

Updated System Requirements

HighGear 8.7 no longer supports the Internet Explorer or Edge Legacy browsers. Microsoft’s new Edge browser based on Chromium will continue to be supported.

Licensing Changes

The 8.7 release also includes changes to support the new licensing model introduced at the beginning of 2021. For information about how these changes may affect your organization please contact Support@HighGear.com.
