HighGear is pleased to announce the release of HighGear Version 8.8.

Groundbreaking new enhancements in HighGear’s workflow platform and APIs have been combined with a proprietary new standalone application, the HighGear Secure Applications Forward Edge (HSAFE). This enables the rapid design and deployment of hyper-secure external forms and data submissions without exposing core information systems to the Internet.

New Features in 8.8

HighGear Secure Applications Forward Edge (HSAFE) for Form Submissions

With version 8.8, HighGear clients can now design external forms using the drag-and-drop tools they already love, and they can publish them securely with just a few clicks. External forms can make use of the full suite of HighGear form tools including support for all field types, 2D form design, validation, and conditional field visibility. Public visitors of published forms can be authenticated by trusted third-party identity providers, without granting those users access to your core HighGear system. For example, a power company could now allow its customers to report a power outage and immediately receive back a case number, using only their LinkedIn (or other publicly available) account to verify their identity when they submit a report.

New Numeric Field Formatting Options

In HighGear 8.8, numeric fields can now be configured to display a fixed number of decimal places. When these fields are displayed or edited, the values will automatically be formatted to use the specified number of decimal places. Optionally, administrators can require that all decimal places be entered by the user when filling out forms – making it easier to ensure that users don’t make mistakes during data entry.

New REST API Features

As part of this release, several other enhancements to HighGear’s REST API have also been implemented. These further augment HighGear’s ability to serve as a “master integrator” of data and information across the enterprise and expose additional rich programmatic display and integration capabilities as well as paving the way for an exciting menu of forthcoming upgrades to HighGear.

Updated System Requirements

HighGear 8.8 no longer supports Windows Server 2012. Windows Server 2012 R2 will continue to be supported.

Upcoming System Requirement Changes

The next version of HighGear will no longer support Microsoft SQL Server 2012.
